(Nashville, Tenn.) February 10, 2014 - The Americana Music Association is pleased to announce its formal ties to the Americana Music Association-UK as prepares for three evening showcase at Kings Place in London February 13-15, 2014. The recently formed Americana Music Association UK (AMA-UK) will present some of the very best of Americana music, featuring top artists from North America, including Laura CantrellSturgill Simpson and Austin Lucas along with UK based bands Police Dog Hogan, Emily Barker and Hatful of Rain and The Vagaband.
Additionally, a multi-media afternoon showcase entitled “Woody Guthrie: Hard Times and Hard Travellin”, by musician and Professor of American Literature and Culture WILL KAUFMAN, will take place on the Saturday, February 15.  Kaufman will present a live programme that sets the songs of Woody Guthrie in the context of the American 1930s - the Dust Bowl, the Depression, the New Deal and the state of popular music itself.
“I’m excited to attend the first formal Americana showcase in London,” said Jed Hilly, executive director of the Tennessee based Americana Music Association.  Hilly added “we are grateful to the AMA-UK, Bob Butler, Bob Paterson, Ken Ansell and Paul Spencer for advocating for the music and artists we love.’
The AMA-UK takes its inspiration from the original Americana Music Association which has had a profound effect on the perception and development of Americana music in the US. The AMA-UK’s mission is to support, encourage and grow the Americana scene in the UK, bringing together the artists and fans who love the music. These showcases have been created to spread the word and share the raw beauty, soul, depth and diversity of this wonderful musical genre.   Following this weeks showcases, the AMA-UK will produce a second Americana/UK Music conference during the Maverick Festival at Easton Farm Park in East Suffolk on Friday July 4, 2014
