August 2, 2012, Nashville, TN: Two soulful events are added to The Americana Music Festival & Conference, presented by Nissan September 12-15 in Nashville. Beyond the boundaries of the traditional showcases, one fills the rafters of a historic downtown church - and another begins a new Sunday tradition.

BMI will present Phil Madeira with special guests from MERCYLAND: Hymns For The Rest Of Us on Thursday, September 13 at the Downtown Presbyterian Church from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.  Madeira, Emmylou Harris, Shawn Mullins, North Mississippi Allstars, Buddy Miller and surprise guests reprise their songs from the critically acclaimed album. The collection of left-of-center spirituals, described by Paste Magazine as "A Sunday morning coming down that can satisfy even a staunch non-believer," will be aptly situated in a historical church, one of Nashville's oldest and most beautiful examples of architecture. In addition to free admittance with badges and wristbands, there will be seats available at the door for $10.

On Sunday, September 16, Thirty Tigers will present The First Annual Gospel Brunch from 11:00am –1:00pm at The Station Inn, hosted by Elizabeth Cook. Cook, who recently released the EP Gospel Plow, will be joined by special guests John Fullbright, multiple Stellar Award winning gospel great Dottie Peoples, and others.  In keeping with Thirty Tigers brunch of choice, chicken and waffles will be served. In addition to badges and wristbands, there will be a $15 cover for non-registered guests.

The festival brings more than 100 official performances throughout Music City. Last year, more than 12,000 fans enjoyed the festival’s musical events. Wristbands for all evening showcases at participating venues are only $50 and can be purchased now here, or at Grimey’s New & Preloved Music and Fanny’s House of Music starting Friday, August 10.

Live music will kick off at the 11th Annual Americana Honors and Awards ceremony on Wednesday, September 12 at the historic Ryman Auditorium. Official showcases previously announced include: Billy Joe Shaver, Punch Brothers, Brandi Carlile, Richard Thompson, Sara WatkinsShovels & Rope, The Deep Dark Woods, John Hiatt and many others.
