Nighttime is the right time: Americana adds artists to festival lineup

Americana music's groundbreaking artists and its rising stars make up the latest additions to the association's September 8-11, 2010 evening festival lineup.   Among the artists added to the talented packed showcases are: Shelby Lynne, Chip TaylorTony Joe White, Paul Thorn, John Oates and Todd Snider's Rock & Roll Revue featuring Jason D. Williams, Dan Baird and Friends. They'll be joined by buzz-worthy up and coming acts American Aquarium, Defibulators, Shannon Whitworth, Frontier Ruckus, Cadillac Sky, and Sarah Jarosz.
 
Artists selected to perform underscore Americana's formative place in the world's musical landscape.  The genre continues to grow deeper grassroots and gain  industry recognition, including the inaugural Best Americana Album Grammy,  presented to Levon Helm for his Electric Dirt album earlier this year.

  

The nighttime festival is open to the general public.  Advance wristbands are a steal: For only $50, the wristbands may be purchased now via  americanamusic.org, or by calling the AMA office (615.386.6936). Wristbands are good for admission to all venues during the four-day event.  Music industry professionals and those interested in the business of great music can purchase full day festival and conference registrations at the reduced rate of $350 for Americana Music Association members and $450 for non-members.  Rates will go up on August 20.

The 2010 Americana Music Festival is part of the 11th annual Americana Music Festival & Conference, slated for September 8-11. The conference offers seminars, panels and networking opportunities at the Downtown Nashville Sheraton Hotel by day, and raw, battery-recharging showcases each evening.  Friends of Americana can learn more about the discounted hotel room rates by visiting the Americana Music Association website.  Don't delay as the hotel is nearly sold out.

 

Full festival and concert registrants receive entrance to all sanctioned daytime conference music, panels and parties, plus priority access to all evening showcase performances.  The registration also includes a ticket to the critically acclaimed Americana Honors & Awards show, presented by the Gibson Foundation, on Thursday, September 9 at the Ryman Auditorium

 

 

 

About the Americana Honors & Awards

Each year, the Americana Music Association honors distinguished members of the music community with six member voted annual awards and with Lifetime Achievement Awards.  Presented by the Gibson Foundation, the Honors & Awards are attended by over 2000 artists, music loving fans and entertainment industry executives in one of America's musical shrines, the historic Ryman Auditorium.  The event has been broadcast internationally via Sirius/XM Radio, BBC2, WSM and Voice of America.  The Honors & Awards have featured many amazing moments over the years including Johnny Cash & June Carter Cash's last live performance together, as well as show-stopping appearances by John Fogerty, Lyle Lovett, Rosanne Cash, Solomon Burke, Old Crow Medicine Show, Emmylou Harris, Rodney Crowell, the Avett Brothers, Mavis Staples, Robert Plant, Patty Griffin, Guy Clark,  Levon Helm, and so many more.
