Beloved songwriter, singer, and artist Jim Lauderdale will be the 2016 recipient of the Americana Music Association’s Wagonmaster Award, a special lifetime achievement honor reserved for the most valuable contributors to the course and history of America’s only broad roots music format. The award, named for country music icon Porter Wagoner, will be presented on September 21, 2016 by Country Music Hall of Fame member George Strait, a global star who has recorded more than a dozen of Jim Lauderdale’s songs. 
The initiative, #roadtoamericanafest, is actively engaging artists, independent radio, retail, and publications in the promotion of AmericanaFest through their respective channels. Participants are encouraged to use the hashtag #roadtoamericanafest on social media to track and promote performances and other related events.  
The Americana Music Association wishes to congratulate three-time Americana Group of the Year, The Avett Brothers, on their continued success as they topped multiple Billboard charts this week.  
The Americana Music Association is proud to partner with Brandi Carlile and Old Crow Medicine Show in support of their summer Americana tour in the United States.  The fledgling music association will be promoting a Facebook contest for the lucky winner to see these amazing artists.

As the Americana Music Association gears up for AmericanaFest NYC, August 6-7, and it's 17th annual Americana Music Festival & Conference in Nashville, September 20-25, the organization's Executive Director, Jed Hilly, is confirmed for several special events, spreading the word about all things Americana.
The Americana Music Association is proud to announce that Buddy Miller will return to lead the Americana All-Star House Band for the upcoming Americana Honors & Awards ceremony, which is set to take place on September 21, 2016 at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN. Miller, an Americana and GRAMMY award winning singer, songwriter, and producer, will bring together some of the finest musicians in the world including Dave Cobb, Stuart Duncan, Fred Eltringham, Matt Rollings, Don Was, and The McCrary Sisters to play alongside those nominated for awards this year.
The Americana Music Association proudly unveiled its second round of AmericanaFest 2016 performers today. Additions to this year’s lineup include: Amanda Shires, Billy Bragg & Joe Henry, Bruce Hornsby & the Noisemakers, Dori Freeman, Howe Gelb, Jack Ingram, John Fullbright, John Prine, Kaia Kater, Motel Mirrors, My Bubba, Sam Outlaw, Sean Watkins, Shawn Colvin & Steve Earle, The Cordovas, and The O'Connor Band featuring Mark O'Connor.
The Americana Music Association and Record Store Day are proud to announce their partnership to create Americana Music Month, which will take place throughout the duration of June 2016.
 
The Americana Music Association wishes to congratulate Chris Stapleton, Foy Vance, and Hayes Carll for topping the first ever Billboard Americana/Folk Chart, the Official Chart Company's Americana UK Chart, and the Americana Airplay Chart, respectively.
The Americana Music Association applauds Billboard Magazine on their decision to recognize Americana Music on their charts with the creation of the newly renamed Americana/Folk Album Sales chart. The news was formally announced yesterday stating that the change “recognizes the growth of Americana and the prominent rise of the term overall, both within the industry and in widespread music coverage.”
Voting for the 2016 Americana Honors & Awards will begin on May 16, 2016. You will need to be an Americana Music Association member by May 18, 2016 to participate in this process. Voting will end on May 26, 2016.
