The category also included brilliant albums by Bob Dylan, Lucinda Williams, Wilco, Willie Nelson and Asleep at the Wheel, all of whom, with Helm, have contributed significantly to the emergence and recognition of the Americana genre. These artists cumulatively had previously taken home 38 Grammys among them including three Lifetime Achievement trophies to Dylan, Nelson and Helm (for his work with The Band), marking the Best Americana Album category among the most critically acclaimed ever.
The Americana Music Association applauds and congratulates all of the nominees on their musical contributions and the Recording Academy for their acknowledgement of the Americana Genre.
