December 1, 2009 Nashville, Tennessee – The Americana Music Association recently held annual elections for the organization’s Board of Directors. Nine incoming directors have been elected to the board for 2009-2010.
The results mirror the dexterity of the Americana genre itself. Entrepreneurial, independent, and progressive, the Americana world anticipated the potential of self-released projects buoyed by constant touring and grassroots fan development, preempting the industry shift. Additionally, the intentionally wider geographical reach of the new director selections extends to music communities outside of the Nashville enclave, promising a richer exchange of ideas. The invigorated board will begin work with an Americana community poised for more profound breakthroughs, as the genre segues into a new year boasting the inaugural Americana Grammy award category.
